In some ways, I don't consider 23:28 to be an album. It's more of an experiment, as I was trying out different methods during the writing, recording, and production.

This entire project was essentially a way to find out what direction I wanted to go in with my music. When writing and producing these songs, I tried out various techniques. In the end, I find about 70% of my music (production wise) is improvised. I'll take an instrument, hit record, and just play away. In some ways, it was very therapeutic.

One thing that did hold constant for me, for all the songs was the emotion. At the core, I wanted to make music that captured an emotion and conveyed it back to the audience, without blantantly spelling it out. It's also the reason I strongly dislike lyrics. I feel I'm forcing an interpretation of what the song is about. Therefore, I either used gibberish, or just random lyrics that are improvised on the spot as I record.

I intentionally don't discuss the emotion that inspired each song for one main reason: Music is art, and art is suppose to invoke an emotion or opinion, and straight out telling people what my music is about robs them of making their own, personal interpretation. Whether or not someone gets the same emotion that I put into it is irrelevant. The fact that someone can interpret any emotion from my music is what what I aim for.

So please, enjoy my music, and interpret them as you want. If you like it, great. If you hate it, great. As long as it creates some sort of reaction, or emotion in the listener, then I'm happy.

From the now I seam to fly...

Fall, as if there is no end,
and dream within my sleep.
You will see that one of these days
I'll meet with you again, smiling.

Call the only thing that I know,
and make if for the best.
Change the only constant I know,
I'll live my life as it is.

Come, I'll show you what I can do
Now that I'm on my own.
No one else can join me out here
For there's nothing else I can be.

Things are overrated to me,
I'm fine avoiding them.
Here is not the place I should be,
I will find my own way around.

Yay for Comments!

My music is free to listen, share, remix, and to do with what you will. I only ask that you do not sell any of my music, artwork, or source files. I would never dream of selling any of these myself, and I certainly don't want others to.
