I began production on Fountain about two months after finishing Judgement. I knew I wanted to set out to make something a bit less coherent than other stuff I've done.
Filming was done at my parents house over about a three week period in February and March of 2007.
Fountain was probably the most personal film I've done to date. I find death to be perceived by many as a sad event, so I wanted to ask, is it really?.
If you walk away from viewing this film with your mood slightly lessened from when you started, then I did my job. The woman in the film commits suicide because she's ready for whatever is next, not because she was depressed. I wanted to show that death is not always a bad, or even sad thing.
By no means does the film deeply explore my thoughts on this matter, but I simply just wanted to ask the question, is death really so bad?
Hi. I was searching for html resources and landed on your site. Looking around I came across this short, and I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing that online, and congratulations.
Best,
Francisco
Hey Aaron, did you do some re-editing?
Nope, I didn’t re-edit this. It’s the first and final edit. ;-)
